Reading the calendar

From Scheduled, a List | Calendar segment switches to a month grid: each cell places your schedules’ occurrences on the day they fall due. The address /schedule?vue=calendrier opens this view directly, and your last choice is remembered next time you come back.

Every occurrence carries one of five marks:

  • Paid — a transaction from this cycle settles it,
  • Due — it’s today,
  • Missed — the date has passed and nothing settled it, including in a month that’s already gone by,
  • Upcoming — later in the month,
  • Income — an occurrence of an income schedule, whatever its status otherwise. A missed income occurrence, for instance, still sits on a red background, with the income arrow on top of it.

Picking a day opens its panel: how many occurrences it carries and their combined total, then the same list as the List view — you can post, skip, or edit a schedule right there, without switching views.

A cell carrying at least one planned expense shows, under its occurrences, the sum of those expenses. Your income occurrences aren’t part of it: they carry their own mark, and mixing them with an expense would produce a number that answers no useful question.

A missed occurrence stays visible in months that have already gone by, not only in the current one: the calendar doesn’t hide what wasn’t settled on time.

The calendar shows no day-by-day projected balance, and no live bank account balance — Arca connects to no bank, and that’s a deliberate choice. It also doesn’t show a day’s already-settled spending: that’s the account register’s job.

For the sources behind these choices, and the reasoning: the cash calendar, a budgeting app’s most-used feature.
